Most roses require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Here are a few of
the exceptions to this rule that do not require as much sunlight.
David Austin
roses can thrive in partial shade, where there is at least four to five
hours of daily sunshine. They make a great way to brighten up a shady area.
Shrub roses will grow in partial shade, especially the once flowering
varieties. Repeat flowering varieties suitable for partial shade include
rugosa roses and the
ground cover
rose.
Examples of Shade Tolerant Roses:

tolerant, start out as a light pink but with age they fade to white, usually
used for a hedge, growing over a wall of fence.
Buff Beauty: a modern shrub rose, favored by enthusiasts, blooms
in partial shade, pale apricot color.
Climbing Golden Showers Rose: climbing rose, bright yellow petals
with a burnt orange center, preferable for shady areas.
